Country star Blake Shelton to play grand opening of the AMP

One of the biggest names in country music is coming to the AMP this summer.

Country superstar Blake Shelton will perform the grand opening concert at the new venue, set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 7.

Shelton is the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year, a three-time Male Vocalist of the Year, the singer 12 number one singles, and is one of the hosts of NBC’s hit television show The Voice.

His most recent album, Based on a True Story, was released in 2013 and includes several popular tracks, including Sure Be Cool If You Did, Boys ‘Round Here, Mine Would Be You, and Doin’ What She Likes.

In other words, he’s crazy famous.

Walmart is covering the cost of the concert, so tickets to the show will be available for $5-10. According to a press release issued Thursday, all of the money raised through ticket sales will be donated to Northwest Arkansas charities.

Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 9, and can be purchased by calling 479-443-5600, or at amptickets.com.
