From a news release:
May is National Bike Month and the League of American Bicyclists has dedicated the 3rd week of May as Bike to Work Week. This event recognizes bicycling as a key component of active transportation and healthy recreation. The City of Fayetteville has been designated as a Bicycle Friendly Community and encourages people to ride a bicycle as transportation when possible to promote a healthy community and a healthy life.
The Bicycle Coalition of the Ozarks (BCO) is providing prizes for bicycle commuters as part of the Northwest Arkansas Bike Challenge. To participate in the challenge, each bicycle commuter can log their miles by setting up an individual profile and/or workplace team at https://nationalbikechallenge.org/
The Northwest Arkansas Bike Challenge helps promote bicycle commuting by encouraging employees, management and owners to use bicycles to get to work. This is a friendly competition where groups will have a chance to win prizes and recognition while supporting a sustainable alternative to automobiles. Currently 179 riders have signed up in Northwest Arkansas with a goal of 250 riders. The City of Fayetteville has established a workplace team for the Northwest Arkansas Bike Challenge and encourages other businesses to participate in the challenge.
