The Northwest Arkansas Jazz Society‘s annual KUAF Summer Jazz Concert Series will include concerts in three venues across three northwest Arkansas beginning in 2014.

Robert Ginsburg, NAJS Executive Director, said the idea is “to bring acclaimed jazz artists to more people in more places.”

The Yellowjackets open the series at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 21 inside the City Auditorium in Eureka Springs. The band has released 25 albums, and has won Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Fusion Performance and Best R&B Instrumental Performance among 17 Grammy nominations.

The second concert features a performance by The Sons of Brasil at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 20 inside the 21C Hotel in Bentonville. The popular Kansas City band focuses solely on Brazilian jazz, and is known for having played every weekend since forming in 1991.

The series ends with The Composer’s Showcase at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9 in the Walton Arts Center’s Starr Theatre. The showcase will include northwest Arkansas jazz musicians performing original compositions in a variety of arrangements. Past concerts have featured the likes of Claudia Burson, James Greeson, The Fayetteville Jazz Collective, Rick Salonen, Matt Harris and many more. The 2014 lineup will be announced soon.

Tickets links for each performance are on sale now at www.digjazz.com.
