A new art installation by a world renowned street artist is now complete in downtown Fayetteville.

Irish artist Maser, known for his colorful murals and public installations, has finished a new piece called Under the Stars at the corner of Spring Street and West Avenue, in front of the Walton Arts Center’s Nadine Baum Studios.

The structure was constructed of wood by Maser and a handful of volunteers, and the artist put the finishing touches on it last week.

The new work was commissioned as part of the WAC’s annual Artosphere Festival, a collection of events created as a celebration of art, nature, and sustainability.

The installation will become part stage, part drum during Artosphere’s upcoming Trail Mix concert series on June 1. Percussionists from the Artosphere Festival orchestra are planning a special performance at around 5 p.m. where the musicians plan to use the structure as a musical instrument during the performance.

The work is intend to stay on display for about a year, Maser said, depending on how it ages in the space.

Here are a few photos of the finished work.
