The Fayetteville Visitors Bureau and Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks are seeking volunteers to help with the National Veterans Golden Age Games.

The annual rehabilitative multi-event competition for seniors is set for June 29 through July 3 in Fayetteville and the surrounding areas. Last year’s events took place in Buffalo, New York.

According to Marlo Priest, sports marketing manager of the bureau, about 800 men and women have registered to compete in the games this year.

Volunteers options are available in over 40 categories of work, from greeting competitors at the airport to helping with specific sporting events, including air rifle, badminton, billiards, bowling, cycling, discus, fly tying, golf, horseshoes, javelin, shot put, shuffleboard, swimming and track.

Help is also needed with registration, serving meals, event photography, site setup and event teardown.

Event locations in Fayetteville include the University of Arkansas and Fayetteville High School campuses, Fayetteville Town Center and Walker Park. Other area locations will host events, including Arvest Ballpark in Springdale, Fast Lane Entertainment in Lowell and Berksdale Golf Course in Bella Vista.
