Fayetteville to host Community Development Block Grant event at Walker Park

The city’s Community Resources Division will host the 7th annual CDBG in the Park event from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 18 at the Walker Park pavilion in south Fayetteville.

The annual event gives residents an opportunity to learn more about the Community Development Block Grant program provided through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Hotdogs, chips and refreshments will be provided, including snacks donated by Little Debbie and ice cream from Hiland Dairy.

The program is the federal government’s primary system for promoting community revitalization, providing annual grants to nearly 1,000 cities across the country.

The funds are used for a wide range of activities, including home repairs and transportation vouchers for low- to moderate-income homeowners.

Several local businesses and organizations will also be available for questions and to provide information about available services related to the program.

The event is free and open to the public.
