One of the most popular restaurants in west Fayetteville will soon open a Dickson Street location.

Local sandwich shop Green Submarine is working to open their second Fayetteville restaurant at 402 W. Dickson St., in the building formerly home to The Phoenix.

It will be the second major expansion for the restaurant, which originally opened in a small space on Wedington Drive in 2010 before moving to the larger location it now occupies at 3315 W. Wedington Drive.

Our guess is that you’ve likely heard raves about the restaurant from your west Fayetteville friends, who regularly line up for the shop’s variety of hot and cold sub sandwiches. Owners of the Dickson Street location are also seeking a permit to add beer, wine, and mixed drinks to the restaurant’s offerings.

Building owner Zac Wooden said Green Submarine is exactly what he was looking for to fill the space.

“We wanted it to be a restaurant,” Wooden said. “We think they’re going to do really well down here. They have great food, and they already have a good following in town with the college students.”

If all goes well, the new place will be open sometime this fall.
