A public forum for all candidates in the Ward 4 City Council race is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29 in room 111 at Fayetteville City Hall.

The event, hosted by Council members Rhonda Adams and Alan Long, will occur during the regular Ward 4 meeting.

During the forum, each candidate running for the soon-to-be-vacant Ward 4 Position 1 seat will be given the opportunity to provide an opening statement to introduce themselves before addressing questions from the public.

Ward 4 is a packed race with six candidates vying for outgoing Alderwoman Adams’ seat: Ray Boudreaux, Craig Honchell, D’Andre Jones, John La Tour, Phillip McKnight and Robert Williams.

Note: We’ve posted profiles and Q&As for several candidates this year. Anyone not yet featured is urged to contact Flyer staff for inclusion in our Vote 2014 coverage. Our email address is [email protected].

Mike Emery, who also ran for a Ward 4 seat in 2012, said in June he would run again this year, but later released a statement saying he decided to focus his energies on his positions on the Environmental Action Committee and the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners.

Michael Collins, who filed for election earlier this month, withdrew from the Ward 4 race on Tuesday, and announced his support of La Tour.

Adams plans to serve out her term before moving to Tampa, Fla. with her husband who recently accepted a position as dean of the Honors College at the University of South Florida.

As with all Ward 4 meetings, the public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Voter registration for the Nov. 4 election runs through Oct. 6. Early voting begins Oct. 20.
