Educator, television personality, and science guy Bill Nye is coming to Fayetteville next month.
According to his website, Nye will speak at the University of Arkansas at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19 at Barnhill Arena as part of the UA’s Distinguished Lecturer series.
Nye is known for his time as the host of the educational television show Bill Nye The Sciene Guy that aired on PBS in the mid 90s. In recent years, he made headlines for being critical of creationism, calling it “not appropriate for children.”
The Distinguished Lecture Series is a student-funded program. Speakers are chosen by a committee of students, faculty and staff, and the events are funded by a student-approved fee, appropriated by the Programs Allocation Board.
The University of Arkansas has not officially announced the performance, so ticket details are not yet available.
Typically, Distinguished Lecture Series events are open to both students and non-students on a first-come, first-served basis.
