Sales tax revenue up in three NWA cities

Sales tax deliveries were up in three of the four major cities across the region.

Revenues were up slightly in Fayetteville and Rogers, while Springdale saw the biggest leap. Collections were down in Bentonville for the fourth month this year.

Fayetteville received $1,525,198 for a 1.53 percent increase over last year, a difference of $22,928.

Rogers collected $1,272,517, a $48,625 increase over last year when the city received $1,223,892.

Springdale received $1,037,873 for an 14.73 percent increase over last year, a difference of $133,220.

Bentonville collected $907,936, a $60,161 decrease over last year when the city received $968,097.

Each city collects a 2 percent sales tax. One percent goes into a general fund. The other 1 percent goes toward repayment of bonds. The numbers reported by the Fayetteville Flyer represent the 1 percent going into general funds.

Sales tax revenue delivered in August reflects June sales tax collected in July.
