Friday events, Dec. 12

The Mythbusters are in town for a couple performances on Friday. Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, hosts of the Discovery Channel hit, are traveling with a live version of their show, and they’ll perform at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Walton Arts Center. Here’s more info.

Smoke & Barrel Tavern is six years old, and they’re celebrating with some great live music on Friday night. Local surf rockers Yokahoma Drifters and country punkers The Dumptruck Boyz will perform. It’ll be a party.

It’s the second-to-last weekend to check out Around the World in 80 Days, the latest production by local theatre company, TheatreSquared. There are several chances to see the show this weekend at Nadine Baum Studios.

There are a few more holiday markets going on around town on Saturday. The Farmers’ Market will have their local art, crafts, food, and more set up at Jefferson Center at 9 a.m., the first-ever Craft Addicts Hand Made Holiday Sale is at 10 a.m. at B Unlimited, and there’s a pop up shop featuring work by several local artists at The Shed as well.

There’s a fun-sounding family event at Fayetteville Public Library Saturday morning, with a reading of How the Grinch Stole Christmas sat 10:30 a.m.

If you’re hungry and/or thirsty Saturday night, maybe you should head to the Fayetteville Town Center for Brews & Brats, a beer tasting and bratwurst festival organized by the folks behind Fayetteville Foam Fest.

How about checking out the Symphony? SoNA’s annual holiday performance A Very SoNA Christmas is set for 7:30 p.m. at Walton Arts Center.

There’s a pretty unique opportunity to introduce kids to the symphony on Sunday at Walton Arts Center as well. SoNA will perform a new show called The Snowman – A Family Concert featuring a screening of the holiday film with a live score performed by the orchestra. The show begins at 3 p.m. Here’s more info.

The All You Need To Know Show returns to Maxine’s Tap Room for Sunday Service this week with a variety show about “Flight.”
