Ozark Natural Foods this week announced a $20,000 donation to the Apple Seeds Inc. Teaching Farm.

If that sounds familiar, it’s because they donated the same amount to the organization last year.

The co-op made the first donation to help launch the project in January 2014, and will present the second check to the organization at the farm at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21.

The Teaching Farm, built last year on two acres just north of Ozark Natural Foods, was created as a community farm and regional school garden resource.

The farm also grows produce for Apple Seeds’ school garden markets and hosts educational programs for area students throughout the year.

After the check presentation on the 21st, the co-op is encouraging members and the general public to spend a few hours helping out at a volunteer day at the farm.

During the volunteer day, there will be a workshop on season extension structures and the types of plants that do well in them. Volunteers will also be entered to win prizes throughout the day, including gift cards, t-shirts, and more.
