The Fayetteville Animal Shelter will offer $5 adoptions for cats and $10 adoptions for dogs through the end of February.

The “Cold Nose, Warm Hearts Adoption Special” is an effort to help find homes for shelter animals at a time when adoption rates are very slow, said Joni Mosher, programs manager.

“We have pets that would be adopted really quickly in the warmer months, sit here for weeks during the winter,” Mosher said. “This time of year is hard for everyone and we would love to see our shelter pets in new homes and helping to lift the spirits of their new families.”

Mosher said the shelter currently has a wide selection of both large and small dogs, and several cats with different personalities.

All adopted pets will be spayed or neutered, are up-to-date on their vaccinations, and include a microchip. Dogs over 6 months of age are heartworm tested, and all cats are feline leukemia tested.

The shelter is located at 1640 S. Armstrong Ave. in Fayetteville. Shelter hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
