This is one of those magical weekends in Fayetteville that has something for everyone.

Want internationally renowned blues music? Blues in the Natural State is Friday and Saturday night at George’s. Friday night will include a bunch of talented female performers under the theme “An Evening of Women in the Blues,” and will include performances by local supergroup Divas on Fire, and touring acts Nikki Hill, Kelley Hill, and Shemekia Copeland. Want to hear a talk by the journalist that took down Nixon? Legendary investigative journalist and non-fiction author Bob Woodward will speak at the Fayetteville Public Library at 7 p.m. The appearance is free and open to the public.

How about some comedy? Local stand-up comedians Seth Dees, Whitney Wasson, Sam Letchworth, and Troy Gittings will perform at Fayetteville Underground beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is $5.

There’s also a mini-music festival at Ryleigh’s this weekend in honor of local recording studio, East Hall Recording. Friday night’s lineup includes locals Teenagers, The Chads, Basement Brew, The Good Fear, and Will Gunselman. Admission is $5. Here’s more info about the event.

How about an a capella festival? Yep. Walton Arts Center has their new VoiceJam A Capella festival this weekend, starting with a competition on Friday night at 8 p.m.

Pagiins

In case you haven’t heard, the Farmers’ Market is back in session. Saturdays start on the Fayetteville square this time of year.

Blues in the Natural State gets started early at 3 p.m. Saturday at George’s with Memphis bluesman Buddy Shute, followed by local acts Keith Nicholson Trio, and Isayah’s Allstars doing an Allman Brothers tribute. Headlining the evening is Tulsa-based Steve Pryor Band, Mississippi artist Mr. Sipp, and San Jose, California act Tommy Castro and the Painkillers. Locals Earl & Them will close out the night in the lounge.

Saturday night at the East Hall Recording 10th anniversary bash at Ryleigh’s includes another five-band bill with Pagiins, Ten High, Hot Shot Karate, Witchsister, and JT Bowen.

Arkansas creative folks will be honored at the Black Apple Awards at The Garden Room beginning at 6 p.m. Here’s more info about that.

Also Saturday night, there’s a rock show at The Lightblub Club with High Lonesome, The Brothel Sprouts, and The Dangerous Idiots.
