Weekend Flyer: May 1-3, 2015

Friday events, May 1

This is one of those weekends in Fayetteville where there are so many awesome things happening, it is simply impossible to choose what to do. We’ve revamped the software that powers our calendar, and many of the below events are clickable with more information, so feel free to poke around if you see something that piques your interest.

On Friday night, for example, you could check out author, actor, and counter-culture icon Peter Coyote at the Fayetteville Public Library.

Or you could head to the AMP to see county star Brantley Gilbert up in Rogers.

Folks have been raving about the show playing at Walton Arts Center this weekend, the Grammy, Tony, and Oscar award winning musical, Once. Here’s more info about that.

There’s also plenty of good music to check out in town, with Carrie Nation & The Speakeasy at The Lightbulb Club, 1 Oz Jig at Smoke & Barrel, Boom Kinetic at George’s, and Paper Jam at Kingfish.

Saturday events, May 2

Razorback Regional Greenway / Staff photo

Saturday is one of the busiest days in Fayetteville in recent memory.

There’s the Fayetteville Farmers’ Market, of course, and a yoga festival, a health expo, a dog walk to benefit the Humane Society, a pub crawl you can take your dog to, free comic books at the library, a crawfish boil, a mini-Kentucky derby (to go along with the actual Kentucky Derby), the opening of the new Razorback Greenway celebration, one of the most anticipated boxing matches of the decade, among plenty of good live music playing all over the place.

As if that wasn’t enough, there’s more below. Good luck choosing what to do from all that.

Sunday events, May 3

Popular 80s band Chicago is performing at the AMP on Sunday night. Here’s a link to a video of You’re the Inspiration to get you pumped up for the show.

There’s a huge show at George’s Majestic Lounge on Sunday night, with locals Isayah’s All-Stars, Earl Cate, Cutty Rye, Last True Heathens, T-Chicken and 1oz Jig all coming together in support of Dianne Read. The event, called Stand with Dianne, is a benefit to help raise funds to pay for a new prosthetic leg for Dianne. Because Fayetteville is awesome, and we lift each other up when we’re down.

Maxine’s popular singled out show returns to their Sunday Night Service this week. The featured band this time is Crescent City Combo.
