University of Arkansas officials today announced that Razorback Transit will run summer bus service on Saturdays for the first time, starting this week.

The five UA bus lines will operate on a reduced schedule for the summer, but they will each run from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The expanded service is possible thanks to a $55,000 grant from the City of Fayetteville.

“In our funding application to the city this year we proposed adding Saturday service during the summer, and the city agreed it was a great idea,” said Adam Waddell, associate director of Transit and Parking. “We serve many Fayetteville residents and visitors, as well as our university students, and having this extra service benefits everyone. The new Saturday service will also make it easier for students and staff to access the University campus during the Summer Intersession classes.”
