TheatreSquared’s New Play Festival kicks off Friday night with an opening reception catered by Table on the Hill, followed by a staged reading of Bob Ford’s new play, Fault at Nadine Baum Studios. Here’s more info about the event.

Also this weekend, The Artist’s Laboratory Theatre will conclude their run of Ctrl+Alt+Del at Mount Sequoyah Retreat & Conference Center. Tickets are $15. Here’s more info.

Jonathan Jackson, one of the stars of the television show Nashville, is a musician in real life, and his band Jonathan Jackson & E-Nation is performing at George’s Friday night. It looks like he’s doing two shows, one at 8:30 p.m., and one at 9:30 p.m. Here’s ticket info.

There’s an indie show at Backspace with RD Mauzy (San Diego/Fayetteville), Surf Minus Surf (Norman, OK), and Stereo Tech Fighters
(Arlington, VA).

Also in music, Ryleigh’s has a rock show with locals Atomic High 5 and Vintage Pistol.

Saturday events, June 20

The Sisters Sweet

Courtesy

It’s been a little soggy lately, but it looks like the sun will clear for a nice Saturday morning at the Fayetteville Farmers’ Market on the square.

Also on Saturday, Artosphere’s annual Trail Mix Concert Series will be set up along Frisco Trail in Fayetteville. Performers include Jayme Stone’s Lomax Project, Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem, Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players, and a handful of Arostphere Festival Orchestra ensembles.

Music wise, Candy Lee is still in town, and she and The Sister’s Sweet will perform at Kingfish Saturday night.

There’s a good Americana show at Nomad’s Music Lounge on Saturday night as well with Adam Cox, Downtown Troubadour, and The Rock Ridge Boys.

Sunday events, June 21

One of the signature events for TheatreSquared’s Arkansas New Play Fest is the annual 24-Hour Play Off, set for Sunday at Nadine Baum Studios. It features teams of artists who write, produce, and stage a new play all in the span of 24 hours. Performances start at 6 p.m.

Also on Sunday, Fayetteville Public Library’s Mountain Street Stage music series continues with a free show by Rochelle Bradshaw & Hypnotion. It’s at 2 p.m.

Finally, Fayetteville songwriter Dana Louise will perform with her father Ezra Idlet of Trout Fishing in America at Maxine’s Tap Room. Pretty perfect Father’s Day event, eh?
