The Ghoul Goes West

Man. We love Fayetteville. This is another one of those weekends that kind of has something for everyone.

Want some live comedy? Comedian Sivert Rafter is at Hawaiian Brian’s for an encore performance Friday night (he also performed on Thursday). There’s also a comedy show at Mermaid’s with four comedians (Drew Welcher, Michael Brown, Seth Dees, and Raj Suresh).

How about some theatre? TheatreSquared’s New Play Festival continues through the weekend, with staged readings of new plays and workshop performances at Nadine Baum Studios. Here are more details about that.

There’s a free movie playing at Wilson Park Pool, with Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

There’s even a square dance at Backspace.

There’s also tons of good music all over town, including Groovement and Totojojo at George’s, The Ghoul Goes West at Nomad’s, The Bends, Dead Indian and Buffalo Hustle at Smoke & Barrel to name a few.

2014 NWA Pride Parade

Staff photo

With the news of Friday’s historic supreme court ruling, the NWA Pride Parade & Festival couldn’t have come at a more opportune time. This year’s parade will take place on Dickson Street at 10 a.m., and there are plenty of other festivities planned through the weekend. Here’s more info on that.

Walton Arts Center’s Artosphere Festival also continues this weekend with a performance by the incredible Artosphere Festival Orchestra on Friday night at Baum Walker Hall. The orchestra, under the baton of conductor Corrado Rovaris, will be performing Bold Spirit: The Best of Beethoven . There are a very few tickets still available.

Music wise, there’s a big houseshow at The Syc House with Vintage Pistol, Witchsister, Of the Heavy Sun, and Meatsweat.

Smoke & Barrel also has a good show with locals Comfortable Brother and Brothel Sprouts.
