A Fayetteville apartment complex was recently recognized for its environmentally-friendly building practices.

The Cardinal at West Center, a project from local developers Specialized Real Estate Group, received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification last month.

The development was completed last fall, and achieved the designation through its use of energy efficient lighting, heating and air conditioning systems, as well as the use of native landscaping, low-VOC paints and finishes, and other building practices.

There are over 100 buildings in the state of Arkansas with at least some level of LEED certification, however, only three multifamily developments have achieved the status.

All three of those projects (Eco Modern Flats, Sterling Frisco, and The Cardinal at West Center) are located in Fayetteville, and were designed by Fayetteville architecture firm, Modus Studio, and developed by Specialized Real Estate Group.
