Once inside, police found the body of Victoria Davis, 24, of Fayetteville, who had sustained multiple injuries consistent with blunt force trauma. Police said it was apparent that “an extremely violent crime” had taken place.

Also at the scene was John C. Davis, 27, of Fayetteville. According to a police report, Davis had open wounds on his face and was transported to the hospital.

While inside the ambulance, Davis implicated himself in the death of his wife. In a later interview, Davis told detectives he helped beat and assault the victim with weapons over several hours while holding her captive, and destroyed physical evidence from the crime scene.

Davis told police he committed the crime with three other individuals.

After interviewing people at the scene, police arrested Davis along with Christopher Treat, 29, of Fayetteville; Mark Chumley, 45, of Fayetteville; and Desire Treat, 29, of Fayetteville on charges of Capital Murder, Tampering With Physical Evidence, and Engaging in Violent Criminal Group Activity.

Police later arrested a fifth person in connection with the incident. Rebecca Lloyd, 36, was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with Capital Murder, Tampering With Physical Evidence, and Engaging in Violent Criminal Group Activity.
