Rep. David Whitaker to run for re-election in 2016

Rep. David Whitaker (D-Fayetteville) will run for re-election in 2016, the two-term incumbent announced on Monday.

“It has been the privilege of my life to serve the people of Fayetteville, Farmington, and Prairie Grove in the legislature, and I hope they’ll give me the honor to continue to serve them for another term,” Whitaker said in a news release.

Whitaker is an Air Force veteran and has served as the assistant city attorney for the city of Fayetteville.

In his news release, he said changes to the Arkansas DWI law, implementing a new business structure in the Arkansas code, and legislation that allows cities to crack down on predatory towing are what he considers to be his most significant work since being elected in 2012.

Whitaker said he will hold a campaign kickoff in Fayetteville from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28 at Apple Blossom Brewing Company.

Kickoff Set for September 28

FAYETTVILLE – State Representative David Whitaker (D-Fayetteville) will run for reelection in 2016, the two-term incumbent announced on Monday.

“It has been the privilege of my life to serve the people of Fayetteville, Farmington, and Prairie Grove in the legislature, and I hope they’ll give me the honor to continue to serve them for another term,” Whitaker said.

The Air Force veteran and former Assistant City Attorney for the city of Fayetteville has sponsored a number of successful bills since being elected in 2012. Among the most significant are changes to the Arkansas DWI law and implementing a new business structure in the Arkansas code. Whitaker also passed a law allowing cities to crack down on predatory towing.

“We are lucky to have David Whitaker representing us in the legislature. He has been a great representative of the people of Fayetteville and Washington County, and I hope the voters will give him another term,” Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan said.
