Registration open for Golden Ball Classic kickball tournament in Fayetteville

The city’s Parks and Recreation Department will host the first ever Golden Ball Classic kickball tournament on Saturday, Nov. 14 at Walker Park in Fayetteville.

Registration is open and teams are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible for tournament play and skills competitions.

Coed teams will consist of 10-13 players and must have an equal number of male and female players on the field. Each team is guaranteed to play three lightning-style pool play games and advance into one of two single-elimination brackets based on their pool play record. The city will provide tournament umpires and a game ball for each match.

Between games, players are invited to compete in two kickball skills competitions: the Home Run Derby, where players will kick as many balls over the fence as possible within a set time limit; and the Clutch Kicking Competition, which will require players to hit a bullseye on a giant target as many time as possible within a set amount of time.

Trophies and prizes will be given to tournament winners and the male and female winners of each skills competition.

Cost to register for the tournament is $250 per team and $10 per player for the skills contests.
