Local troupe offers free performances of Macbeth this week

Want to see a Shakespeare classic for free in Fayetteville this week?

The Crude Mechanicals, the troupe behind the Shakespeare in the park series held at Gulley Park for the past few summers, will perform The Bard’s classic play Macbeth this week at Clapp Auditorium on Mount Sequoyah.

The company was formed in 2014 by a group of current students and recent theatre graduates who have scattered around the country for college, but who enjoy performing in their spare time. The players, who have performed Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest, and Twelfth Night in recent years, have been rehearsing their version of Macbeth over the last few weeks on their winter break from school.

The cast includes Kelsey Myers, Ali Wright, Chris Jordan, Kyle Smiley, Haley Zega, Allegra Shivers, Maggie Wood, Austin Lenaburg, Ethan Dilday, and Zach Stolz.

Clapp Auditorium is located at 150 N. Skyline Drive in Fayetteville.

Performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 7-10, and all four shows are free and open to the public.
