Longtime local restaurant AQ Chicken will soon close its Fayetteville location, according to a report.

According to local TV station KFSM, employees of the business were notified of the closure on Monday.

The restaurant, which got its start in Springdale in the 1940s, opened its Fayetteville location in 1991.

The AQ Outback location, a quick-service version affiliated with the restaurant, also recently closed, according to signs placed in the drive through window.

A manager on duty Tuesday afternoon at the Fayetteville location would not comment on the report.

Melissa Mallard, manager at the original location in Springdale, said she hadn’t been told anything from ownership about the Fayetteville closure, but expected that the Springdale location will remain open.
