With youth baseball starting this weekend, city officials have announced a parking change for South Block Avenue at Walker Park in south Fayetteville.

Parking on the east side of Block is no longer allowed between 7th and 13th streets.

The street is not wide enough to support parallel parking on both sides of the roadway while still providing safe access for two-way traffic and emergency vehicles, said Byron Humphry, the city’s park maintenance superintendent.

Humphry said crews are working this week to mark parallel parking spaces on the west side of Block, and to shift the center line to the east.
