Weekend Flyer: Arkansas New Play Festival, Widespread Panic, and more

A few weeks ago, local duo Handmade Moments were injured in a pretty terrible car accident in California. In addition to the injuries, their vehicle and some of their musical instruments were damaged, and some local folks are coming together to help them out on Friday night at Fossil Cove. A benefit concert featuring Marty Shutter from Runners Talk Running, Comfortable Brother, and Moonsong is set for 6 p.m. at the brewery, and all the proceeds from the $5 cover benefit Anna and Joel as they recover from the accident.

Also Friday night, TheatreSquared’s Arkansas New Play Festival kicks into full gear with a staged reading of their adaptation of Romeo and Juliet set in Syria. The reading will take place at Crystal Bridges at 7 p.m. Here’s a bit more info about the festival.

There’s a big show at the AMP on Friday night as well, with jam-grassers, Widespread Panic. Last we heard, there were still some tickets available.

There’s plenty more below, including a four-band bill at Backspace, some NWA Pride week events, and locals Randall Shreve and the Sideshow are at Ryleigh’s.
