Fayetteville A&P Commission to interview director candidates, reception planned

The Fayetteville Advertising and Promotion Commission has narrowed its list of potential executive directors to three applicants.

Farewell Reception

What: A farewell reception for Kym Hughes, outgoing executive director of the Fayetteville Advertising and Promotion Commission.
When: 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 29
Where: Fayetteville Town Center Directors Room
Info: Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be available.

The group will interview Angie Albright, development and outreach director for the Arkansas Support Network; Matt Behrend, a current A&P commissioner and regional operations manager for Krushiker Hospitality Group; and Molly Rawn, development and communications director for the Scott Family Amazeum in Bentonville.

The search for a new leader began immediately after the resignation announcement of director Kym Hughes in early May. Hughes, who was hired in late 2014 to replace longtime director Marilyn Heifner, is the former director of tourism and hospitality for the city of Sandy Springs, Georgia. She was given a starting salary of $85,000, plus $5,000 in moving expenses, and a standard benefit package. Hughes is stepping down July 1.

“At this time, I must turn my attention to my family and move closer to be near to them,” Hughes wrote in her resignation letter.

A reception for Hughes is scheduled for Wednesday, June 29 at 5:30 p.m. in the Town Center Directors Room.

Matthew Petty, chair of the commission, said the group has not decided whether to hire one of the candidates outright as the new executive director or if it will offer a performance-based contract agreement that could lead to a permanent position.

The interviews will take place at a special meeting set for 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 28 inside the Town Center.
