Traffic all over Fayetteville will be a little more congested, and the waiting list at local restaurants a little longer this week.

That’s because the University of Arkansas will be back in session beginning on Monday, Aug. 22.

The 26,000-plus members of the student population that come with it have already begun returning to town, in fact. The UA on Monday held their annual “Assisted Move-in Day,” with Chancellor Joe Steinmentz, Mayor Lioneld Jordan, Arkansas State Rep. Greg Leding, UA Band members, mascots, and volunteers on hand to help freshmen and their parents move into their dorm rooms.

University of Arkansas enrollment was at an all-time high last year, with 26,754 students on campus in the fall of 2015.

Enrollment figures for 2016 are expected to be available in early Sept. once the semester is officially underway.
