Work is winding down on the new Sunrise Guitars location in midtown Fayetteville.

The building, located at 2781 N. College Ave., was once home to Adventure Subaru which moved to its new facility on Henbest Drive near the Porter Road exit off Interstate 49 in 2012.

The idea was first announced in late 2014 after the Nelms family – who has for decades owned Adventure Subaru – purchased the nearby Ben Jack’s Arkansas Music store and renamed the business to Sunrise Guitars.

Since then the plan has evolved to include a 7,500-square-foot showroom, a media room, an instrument repair area, and several rooms for music lessons. The former dealership’s adjoining garage bays were renovated into a 3,000-square-foot performance venue with room for 120 people.

A soft opening is planned for the week of Sept. 5, with a grand opening to follow shortly after, Don Nelms told the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal.

Once open, the store’s hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
