Weekend Flyer: Manic Focus, Lumineers, and more

Happy Friday, everyone.

There’s a new show at UA Theatre opening Friday. The UA student organization will perform The Diary of Anne Frank, with several performances scheduled this weekend.

Music-wise, there’s a big electronic show with Manic Focus at George’s, reggae at Smoke & Barrel with Rochelle Bradshaw and Hypnotion, and Americana at Ryleigh’s with Opal Agafia & The Sweet Nothings.

Saturday, Oct. 1

The Lumineers

There’s a huge cross country race at Agri Park on Saturday with the annual Chili Pepper Cross County Festival. The racing begins at 6 a.m. Here’s more info.

How about a mini-golf tournament? The annual Golftoberfest event benefiting Single Parent Scholarship Fund is set for 10 a.m. at Gator Golf.

There’s a big hula-hoop party at Gulley Park Saturday night. FayetteFlow is a celebration of World Hoop Day, and includes hula-hooping demonstrations and workshops. Here’s more.

Music-wise, there’s a big show at the AMP with The Lumineers, Børns, and Rayland Baxter, and Smoke & Barrel has Little Rockers, The Last Dying Republic.

Davis McCombs

There’s a beer festival at the AMP on Sunday. The first ever AMP Fest is set for 2 p.m., and will include craft beers from about 20 local and regional breweries, live music from Mix Master Mike (of the Beastie Boys)
Arkansauce, Mountain Sprout, and Goose, some virtual reality demonstrations, and other technology-related activities.

Award-winning local poet Davis McCombs will read from his new collection, lore at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fayetteville Public Library. He’ll also be signing copies of the book.

Also Sunday night, Smokey & The Mirror will perform at Artist’s Laboratory Theatre’s Singled Out show at Fossil Cove Brewing. The show starts at 7 p.m.
