Art Book Club - The Greater Journey: Americans in Paris

Join Crystal Bridges Library Director Catherine Petersen with Willow Fitzgibbon and Renee Mahon from Fayetteville Public Library as they lead a discussion of the number one New York Times best seller The Greater Journey: Americans in Paris by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner David McCullough.

This intriguing read follows generations Americans from the 1820s to 1900 as they made the pioneering journey across the Atlantic to the intellectual, scientific, and artistic capital of the western world: Paris.

The meeting will be held in Bentonville at the Crystal Bridges Museum Library, and following the discussion, will be a museum tour of art by American artists highlighted in the book; including Mary Cassatt, John Singer Sargent, George Catlin and Winslow Homer.

10 copies of The Greater Journey will be available to checkout at the Fayetteville Public Library as of Friday, December 20th.
v This book club is free with online reservations, space is limited to 20 people. The event begins in the Crystal Bridges Library.

The Crystal Bridges Library supports the research and interest needs of community members who wish to learn more about American art and culture. The collection includes some 60,000 volumes, including a non-circulating art reference collection, special collections, and archives. The Library welcomes all researchers and guests during the Museum's public hours. Special Collections and Archives are available for private viewing by appointment only.
