REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: Old Brewery Pale Ale

  • Monday, Jul 30, 2012

I’m a sucker for breweries with history and tradition and Samuel Smith’s is one of the best. It’s a small brewery using the same water and techniques as they did 200 years ago.

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: La Fin Du Monde

  • Friday, Jul 20, 2012

The name La Fin Du Monde means “the end of the world,” but don’t wait until doomsday to try this one. It’s a really great beer from a solid brewery.

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: Grapefruit Radler

  • Thursday, Jul 12, 2012

I’m not a fan of fruit beers in general, but this one is really nice. It’s refreshing and tasty with just enough alcohol to make it interesting.

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Urbock

  • Wednesday, Jul 4, 2012

This is one of the better examples of a smoked beer that I’ve tried. It would go well with barbeque or any smoked meats.

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: Hoptimistic IPA

  • Friday, Jun 29, 2012

This is a beer I will work into my regular rotation. It’s available in bottles in Northwest Arkansas, but I recently spoke to a representative from the brewery and it should be available on tap in late July 2012.

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: Bud Light Golden Wheat

  • Thursday, Jun 21, 2012

It stands to reason that if you drank enough of it, you’d get a buzz, but I can’t imagine consuming enough to get there.

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: Bitter & Twisted

  • Friday, Jun 15, 2012

This beer is not for those looking for a punch of hops but it’s crisp and refreshing with just enough bitterness to give it depth of character.

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: Ichtegem’s Grand Cru

  • Thursday, May 31, 2012

Photo by J.T. Wampler This week’s beer: Ichtegem’s Grand Cru from Brouwerij Strubbe in Ichtegem, Belgium Grand Cru literally means great growth. Usually associated with wine, breweries put forth their[...]

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: Straffe Hendrik Brugs Tripel Ale

  • Friday, May 25, 2012

This ale has been brewed in the heart of Bruges Belgium by the same family since 1856 using the original recipe that includes bottle conditioning. That means the carbonation is created by adding yeast at bottling for additional fermentation.

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: Sierra Nevada Summerfest

  • Saturday, May 19, 2012

Sierra Nevada hit a home run with their summer seasonal this year. Don’t miss this one.

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: Ruination IPA

  • Thursday, May 10, 2012

This is one of my all-time favorite beers. It’s not available in Arkansas, but it’s so good it makes the drive to Missouri worth it.

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: Old Stock Ale 2012

  • Friday, Apr 27, 2012

This is a really good beer that I suspect get much better with age. North Coast has yet to produce a disappointing beer and I’m really looking forward to tasting this one again later.

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: Hirter Morchl

  • Thursday, Apr 19, 2012

I’d recommend this beer to anyone who thinks all dark beers are thick and scary. This light, tasty offering might just sway them toward the dark side of beers.

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: Joe’s Premium American Pilsner

  • Thursday, Apr 12, 2012

Its taste is light and crisp with noble German hops rounding out the sip. I recently recommended this beer to someone who is a confirmed Bud Light drinker and it was received very well.

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: White Hawk Select IPA

  • Thursday, Apr 5, 2012

This India Pale Ale will probably disappoint most hardcore hop-heads, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Beers that wallop you with a ton of hops don’t really appeal to me.

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: 8-Bit Pale Ale

  • Thursday, Mar 29, 2012

Tallgrass Brewing makes several good beers and this is one of their best. It’s light on the tongue with great flavor and a crisp finish with just the right amount of bite to be super refreshing and keep you coming back for more.

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: Guinness Black Lager

  • Thursday, Mar 22, 2012

Overall, this is a weak black lager with nothing to make it rise above average. You could, however, serve it to people who think all black beer is heavy and thick to ease them towards the dark side.

REVIEW: It’s All About the Beer: Moose Drool Brown Ale

  • Friday, Mar 16, 2012

There is an earthy aftertaste like slightly burnt bread with nuts, but it’s not unpleasant and each sip is better than the last.

It’s All About the Beer: Pyramid Hefeweizen

  • Thursday, Mar 8, 2012

The Pyramid Hefeweizen aroma is a little like Juicy Fruit gum with a hint of grassiness. There is hardly any aroma of banana or cloves as this style of beer calls for.
