2011 Washington County Fair begins Tuesday, Aug. 30

The Washington County Fair will enter its 154th year when it opens to the public on Tuesday, Aug. 30.

In other words, it’s time to eat meats on sticks, apples on sticks, deep-fried twinkies on sticks, cotton candy on sticks, and funnel cakes (on sticks?). It’s time to ride the Zipper, the Tilt-A-Whirl, and the Gravitron.

It’s also time to hang out with farm animals, try not to make eye contact with carnival people, make out with someone on the ferris wheel, and win some knives at Knife Game.

You know the drill.

Tuesday is Two Dollar Tuesday ($2 admission and $2 rides), and after that, admission each night is $5.

Carnival armbands are $30 nightly, and you can save $5 on an armband with a Pepsi can during Midnight Madness Friday night.

The carnival opens at 5 p.m. daily (except for Saturday when it opens early at noon), and runs through Sept. 3.

Live music and carnival information is listed below (agricultural events here).

Have some fair fun.
