The new traffic roundabout near Washington Regional Medical Center will be closed to traffic this weekend while crews work to complete the final stages of asphalt surface work.
The roundabout, located at the intersection of Futrall Drive and Northhills Boulevard, is in the final stages of construction.
Construction isn’t quite complete, but traffic will be rerouted through a single lane in the roundabout for two months while crews work to finish the project.
Construction preparation is underway at the site of the planned roundabout in north Fayetteville.
Several city officials and other involved parties officially broke ground on Fayetteville’s first modern roundabout during a ceremony held near the main entrance of Washington Regional Medical Center.
The roundabout will eliminate the four-way stop at Futrall Drive and Northhills Boulevard, an intersection that causes heavy traffic stacking when vehicles begin entering and exiting Fulbright Expressway during peak hours.
What do you guys think about a roundabout in Fayetteville? Can Fayetteville drivers adapt to a new kind of intersection in town?
