Sports Illustrated has released its annual list of top athletic programs for each state in the country and for the fourth consecutive year, Fayetteville High School has taken the top spot for the state of Arkansas.
This year comes as no surprise seeing as we won state championships in football, baseball and girls’ golf, not to mention second in the state in girls’ basketball, boys’ golf, volleyball, softball, boys’ track, wrestling, and boys’ and girls’ indoor track.
“It’s an honor for our athletic program to be recognized by Sports Illustrated as the top program in Arkansas,” said Dick Johnson, assistant superintendent and athletic director. “As always, the credit goes to our kids and our coaches, who have dedicated themselves to excellence, and to the continuing support we receive from our parents and community.”
Let’s make it five years in a row, shall we?
