Two local teachers from Central United Methodist Church lost their jobs yesterday after reports of preschoolers who were being made to fight at the 30-year-old day care.
The investigation began last Thursday after a parent reported teachers forcing the kids to fight during “circle time,” according to Fayetteville police Sgt. John Warren.
“Some parents said their children were bruised during the fights, and we’re in the process of setting up interviews with at least some of the 18 kids [in the class ]” he said.
The names of the two teachers aren’t being released but the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette has this from Julie Munsell, spokeswoman for the state Department of Human Services.
Munsell said if the teachers want to work in child care in Arkansas again, they’ll have to comply with corrective action decided on by the Human Services Department.
