Weekend: Jan 30, 31, Feb 1st

If ever in the history of weekends there was one to get out of the house, this is the one. We’ve been holed up in the only place we know of that has power for the last four days, with nothing to do, and no where to go, and now more than ever, it is time to get out of the house and do something.

Luckily for us, a good portion of our entertainment district has power, and that means it’s time to head down there this weekend and cure some of this cabin fever. Big time.

Tonight, the Boom Boom Room has The Darksuits, which are a really good Fayetteville Band. Or you could check out King David, the lead singer of Fayetteville’s David’s Pegasus at the Smoke and Barrel.

Or, catch a rare show at ROTC with the Smithstonians.

Tomorrow night was supposed to be a benefit for Luke Hunsicker of the American Princes at the Smoke and Barrel, but the Good Fear has some family health concerns as well, and as a result the benefit is now postponed, and the show tonight will now feature Charliehorse and 1 oz Jig. Also tomorrow night, Teatro Scarpino is hosting “Souled Out, the original sophistifunk hip-hop collective.” Teatro Scarpino hopes this will be the first of many concerts showcasing remarkable musical talent from numerous genres. Sounds pretty sweet. Also, tomorrow night This American Life host and producer Ira Glass will be at the Walton Arts Center. Mr. Glass will deliver a 60 minute talk, followed by 30 minutes of Q&A. Plus Boombox is at George’s. Yeow.

Sunday is Super Bowl Sunday, and that means an excuse to eat some terribly unhealthy food, drink too much on Sunday, and be a little late to work on Monday. Everyone else will be.

There is plenty of hot action (sorry) to warm you guys up tonight. I have a feeling Dickson St. will be bumpin’ tonight, considering we are all ready to get out and do something. And nothing warms you up better than a belly-full of whiskey, right? See you guys out there.
