Benefit for Nicholas Bunch-Evans

  • Wiff Rightly · Friday, Mar 6, 2009

I don’t know about you, but I like doing what I can to help others. I also really like eating soup. Thankfully, a situation has presented itself that will allow me(and you) to do both… at the same time.

On Saturday, March 14th, a benefit will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church to help raise money for the family of Nicholas Bunch-Evans. Nicholas was born late last November with Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC), a rare disorder that affects mobility of the joints. To make matters worse, little Nicholas also suffers from scoliosis and associated respiratory problems. Because of all these issues, he will need to stay at the hospital on a ventilator until he’s old enough for the doctors to begin addressing the scoliosis. It will be at least three months before this can happen. In addition, there’s a chance that Nicholas may have to transfer to the Philadelphia Children’s Hospital if the doctor’s deem it necessary.

To help support the ever-growing medical costs, the soup benefit has been organized. Tickets are only $5 and will get you an assortment of soup options, some chicken tenders, hot dogs and a variety of desserts. Nawt Bawd, y’all! Tickets will be available at the door, but if you’re planning on going, they would appreciate it if you would buy them ahead of time in order for them to put together a rough head count.

There will also be a raffle at the benefit. For just $1 a ticket you can enter to win a Sterling Silver St. Nicholas necklace. St. Nicholas is the Patron Saint of Children, which makes the raffle very appropriate since all proceeds will go towards helping the family of little Nicholas Bunch-Evans.

So whaddya say? Are you gonna head out to St. Paul’s and chow down for a great cause? Tickets are only $5, y’all. Where else can you eat that cheap and do a world of good at the same time?

When: Saturday, March 14th from 4-7pm
Where: St. Pauls Episcopal Church(224 N. East Street, Fayetteville, AR)
