To-Do Wednesday: 3/25/09

I went to Nebbia last night at the Walton Arts Center and it blew me away. If you’ve been to a cirque show before such as Cirque du Soleil or either of Cirque Éloize’s two previous performances, you already know how cool it is. If not, you might be thinking “That sounds lame, man.”

As someone who was hesitant about going to a show like this in the first place, I can safely say that there is nothing lame about it. In fact, it was completely the opposite. Both me and my wife’s contacts nearly fell out at one point because we hadn’t blinked for so long. I know that sounds strange/gross but what I’m trying to say is it was awesome. And weird. And funny. And exciting. I don’t wanna give anything away so that’s all I’m gonna say. Nebbia runs through Sunday, by the way.

As for live music, Smiling Jack’s Fresh Foods has started bringing in musicians and tonight features Americana/Roots/String Band kings (and queen) Shout LuLu at 7pm. They’re really good and yes, you can bring your toddler (see video below).

RZ’s Coffeeshop in the UA Student Union on campus has Susan Enan (acoustic artist) tonight at 8 pm. Susan is originally from Ireland and her music has been featured on the TV show “Bones.”

Also on campus at Ella’s is the Opal Fly Trio and over at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center is the Olga Greenhut piano recital at 8pm (free).

Over at George’s, you can catch Mountain Sprout and it’s Twednesday night again at Smoke & Barrel with the Sloan Bros (of Memphis Pencils fame).

GoodFolk Productions has The Refugees at 8pm. Tickets are $15.

Rather be dancing? Club Fix, in the downstairs of Willy D’s, has French Horn Rebellion. Catch them on DJ EJ’s show tonight at 8pm on KXUA 88.3FM and then follow them down to Dickson Street.

Want to get started earlier? There’s a Razorback baseball game at 6:35pm. The Hogs are playing Missouri St..

Anything else?
