Weekend: April 3, 4, 5

Give me an F! (F). Give me an armers market! (armers market). What’s that spell?

Awesome!

If you ask us here at the Flyer, there is no experience more Fayetteville-y than the Farmer’s Market in the downtown square. This weekend marks the first weekend for the Fayetteville Farmers Market, and the weather (ignore the Sunday forecast. It’ll just bring you down) on Saturday is looking like it’s going to be a perfect day for walking around in the square and buying some locally grown vegetables, fruits, flowers, plants, and crafts.

Saturday also marks the second day of the Fayetteville Forward Summit from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at the UA Global Campus (formerly UA Continuing Education Building) just off the Fayetteville Square. The combination of these two happenings means everyone you know is going to be downtown this weekend. Be there.

In addition to all the stuff happening on the Square, there are tons of tunes to check out as well.

Friday, Queen Beast will be headlining over at the Gypsy with The Henchmen and the Royal Dead.

At George’s, Fayetteville Funk Ensemble will be funking up everyone’s life – funk style. Los Peos Viejos and Steve Pryor will be warming up the Happy Hour crowd.

Also on Friday, the Smithstonians will be at the Smoke and Barrel, and Cletus Got Shot will have some of their newly released CD’s for sale at ROTC.

On Saturday night, you can check out some Roller Derby action at Roller City when The Backwoods Betties of Fayetteville take on the the Mo-Kan Roller Girlz from Baxter Springs, KS.

The Walton Arts Center has the best Fado singer on the planet with Mariza.

Also on Saturday, Thanks for Nothing will play their Farewell show at George’s with The Blacktop Boys, The Plaid Jackets, and UseCurtis.

On Sunday, Derek Jenkins brings his Mystery Train radio show to the Smoke and Barrel. We’re not sure what that means, but it sounds pretty awesome.
