6th ranked NWA Rollergirls compete tonight

  • By Todd Gill · Saturday, May 2, 2009

So have you done it yet? Have you been to a roller derby bout? Have you seen just how awesome our NWA Rollergirls are? I have and I suggest checking it out.

Tonight’s as good a night as any since you’ll be trying to find a dry place to chillax anyway. And by “chillax”, I mean grit your teeth while watching some tough-n-sexy local ladies knock each other down on roller skates.

The NWA Rollergirls’ All Star travel team, the Arkansas Killbillies, will be skating against the Fort Wayne Derby Girls from Fort Wayne, Indiana. What do these two teams have in common besides an affinity for beating the snot out of each other in front of a crowd? They’re both ranked 6th in their respective regions.

It’s a North Central vs. South Central showdown. The battle of battles. The war of what some might call, “The North Central Region vs. The South Central Region.” You might also call it a showdown. Or a battle. Or war. Or both.

Whatever you call it, keep in mind that roller derby is a full contact, aggressive, competitive sport. And did I mention that there’s sexiness involved? I did? Good. Because there is. Cover your husbands’ eyes, ladies. There’s a roller derby tonight.

DATE: Saturday, May 2nd, 2009
TIME: Doors 6pm, Bout starts at 7pm
WHERE: Roller City, 1007 Century Street Springdale, AR
TICKETS: Available at nwarollergirls.com. Adults $10 in advance, $12 at the door and children 12 & under are free with paid adult.
