Weekend: May 22, 23, 24

Last weekend, like we always do, we scoured the internets for the cool things happening in Fayetteville, and we had a pretty good list, but somehow we didn’t find out about the fact that there was a freaking Demolition Derby going on in Springdale, and a Micro-Wrestling event in Farmington. Luckily for all of us, Dede saved the day in the comments section.

Whew. That was close.

This weekend is Memorial Day Weekend, and that means it’s a three day weekend, and that means triple the weekend that we normally have. Right?

Tonight, Darius Rucker will be playing the AMP. When I was in school, I worked at Powerhouse Seafood, and Darius played for a John Daly sponsored benefit for the U of A Golf Team. The guy who waited on Darius and John Daly got a $700 tip. Whoa. You may know Darius from the popular band Hootie and the Blowfish.

Also tonight, Shout Lulu will be at the Smoke and Barrel. Everyone likes Shout Lulu.

Blues man Michael Burks will be playing at George’s for Happy Hour, and the Smithstonians will be at Joe’s Bistro over on College.

Tomorrow, celebrate 35 years of the Farmers Market on the square.

Then, get your day-drink on at Smiling Jacks from 12:00-3:00 with Rachel Fields. It’s cool. You still have two days to recover.

The place to be Saturday night will be the Smoke and Barrel, with Hosta, and the Memphis Pencils. Read our interview with Hosta here.

Or, if you like guitar-playing freaks, you can check out a couple of the best guitar players around with Kory Montgomery and Monte Montgomery at Georges. Kory and Monte are not related.

Sunday, do whatever you want. You don’t have to work on Monday.

As always, feel free to save the day if you know of something happening in town (or nearby) that we’ve left off the full list below. What are you guys doing this weekend?
