To-do: Tuesday 6/23

  • By Todd Gill · Tuesday, Jun 23, 2009

Do you like competitions? Are you way into forming words from individual lettered tiles on a game board marked with a 15-by-15 grid. Do you insist that such words appear in a standard dictionary? Then tonight’s your night, weirdo.

The Smoke & Barrel Tavern has been hosting some board game(ish) competitions for the past couple on months and tonight is a Scrabble Tournament. Sign up by 8pm and get yourself entered to win some bar credit. Form some words and then form a nice hangover with your winnings. If you win, then you win. And then a few hours later, you don’t win. But overall, that’s two wins and one lose. So it’s a win!

After you win/win/lose, you could check out George’s Majestic Lounge just down the street. Tonight features Backyard Tire Fire from Illinois with Mark Bilyeu of local faves Big Smith.

What else is happening? Here ya go:

Fayetteville Farmers’ Market: On the square (7am-2pm)
George’s: Electro Lounge – Backyard Tire Fire w/ Mark Bilyeau (Big Smith)
Jose’s: Jacob & Isayah
Smiling Jack’s Fresh Foods: Effron White
Smoke & Barrel: Scrabble Tournament
Teatro Scarpino: McLeod Burson Jazz Quartet
