To-do: Monday 7/20

There are only two things in existence that every single human being on the planet considers to be super cool, no matter what. Those two things are outer space and heavy metal. Today we celebrate historical milestones in both categories. Yes, July 20th is an extra special day.

You probably already know that 40 years ago today, Neil Armstrong became the first man to step foot on the Moon. Score one for outer space. But did you also know that one year earlier, in 1968, Iron Butterfly’s “In-a-gadda-da-vida” became the first heavy metal song to hit the charts, coming in at #117? It’s true.

How are you going to celebrate all this tonight?

Will you be at the Gypsy on College for The Bob Kramer Incident? At Smiling Jack’s for Marley Monday?

Or will you celebrate in silence during a friendly game of chess at Smoke & Barrel?
