Celebration of the Razorback: Big announcement?

  • By Todd Gill · Tuesday, Jul 21, 2009

A couple of weeks ago, the UA announced an event called Celebration of the Razorback and invited everyone to hang out with players, coaches, athletic department staff and even Tusk the live Razorback mascot. Besides activities for the kids and autograph signings, head football coach Bobby Petrino and Frank Broyles are scheduled to make a special announcement which is scheduled for today, July 21, 2009.

A few more details were revealed yesterday including a list of players who will be on hand but there’s still no word on what the “special announcement” will be.

If you follow the message boards and blogs, you’ll know that a lot of ideas are being tossed around, some more plausible than others. For instance, there’s talk of an updated mascot (possible), a brand new mascot (doubtful), news of football stadium expansion (rumors have been circulating for a while), and even the possibility of a new sport being added to the Razorback arsenal: freestyle walking (kidding).

We’ll know for sure this evening. The event kicks off at 5:30pm in the Walton Arts Center parking lot. It looks like the rain is going to clear up, but if not, the party will be moved to the Randal Tyson Track Center.

Got any guesses?
