If you’re a Twitter user and you’re looking to find local people and organizations to follow, then look no further than the brand new Fayetteville Twitter Guide here on the Flyer.

There are a few third-party sites out there that list people in specific cities and zip codes but so far, we have yet to find anything that correctly categorizes the list on a local level and allows you to search for individuals. Plus, Twitter’s “Find People” feature has a long way to go before it’s a useful tool.

So we made a directory ourselves. It’s pretty basic but it’s filling up with lots of interesting local tweeters to follow. You can filter the list by a few different categories or even search by name. For example, try searching “Courtney Fortson” and see what happens.

Hopefully the Twitter Guide can create some good connections between local citizens, businesses, non-profits and bands. At the very least, a pretty comprehensive list of local media types are already available to help you keep up with what’s happening around town.
