ADA Tour de Cure kick-off Wednesday

According to the American Diabetes Association, there are, 23.6 million children and adults in the United States who have diabetes, or about 7.8% of the population.

The ADA is on a mission to change that, and the local chapter will kick off their annual Tour De Cure with a party at the 21st Amendment on Wednesday.

The Tour De Cure is a series of fundraising cycling events held in 43 states nationwide to benefit the ADA, and those interested in getting involved are encouraged to attend the Wednesday kick off event.

The local Tour De Cure is scheduled for October 3rd at Arvest Ballpark. It is more of a ride than a race, with 20, 50, and 100 mile rides available, as well as a half marathon and a 3 mile walk.

Last year, more than 38,000 cyclists in 78 Tour events raised nearly $16 million to support the mission of the ADA: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

More information about this year’s Tour de Cure can be found on their website, and you can also RSVP to the Wednesday kick off event on Facebook.
