The Big Lebowski movie night Friday at UARK Bowl

  • By Dustin Bartholomew · Thursday, Aug 27, 2009

I’ve been wishing for a good alt-movie theatre in Fayetteville for a long time. Something about a night with a good movie with good friends, and the ability to enjoy an adult beverage while watching the movie just sounds freaking awesome.

But for whatever reason, a dinner and a movie, or even just a regular movie night at a local watering hole hasn’t been able to catch on in Fayetteville. Yet.

Friday night, another local establishment will try their hand at a movie night, and something tells me the UARK Bowl may just get it right.

The Big Lebowski will be the first movie, and the UARK Bowl is making an event out of it. They’ll open early with drink specials that actually have some relevance to the movie (Friday night it’s White Russians. Duh), Wii Bowling will be set up on the big screen, and Chef Lyle from Ella’s restaurant will be serving his version of In-N-Out Burgers and bowling alley fare to go along with the movie. They are also encouraging people to dress as their favorite Big Lebowski character.

If you’ve never seen the Big Lebowski (what’s your problem?), it is quite possibly the biggest cult movie released in the US in the past 15 years. There’s even a festival that started in Louisville in 2002 that has since spread to 11 cities around the country and the UK. Lebowski Fest.

It all starts at 6:30 with specials on White Russians or what-have-you, and $15 covers the cost of the food and the movie. Nawt bawd.

Reservations are recommended, and you can call 479-582-0400 to reserve a table. Do acheivers make reservations?
