To-do: Thursday 9/3

Tonight is packed. We’ve got 15 events listed on our calendar for things to do around town this evening. For those wanting to make the most out of this Thursday night, here’s a plan.

Start the evening off at East Square Plaza and listen to the panel on the Economic Impact of a new FHS for a bit. It might help you decide if you’re still on the fence about next week’s millage vote. Maybe.

Then it’s time for First Thursday. Head downstairs to Fayetteville Underground to check out the four artist openings. There will most likely be some refreshments to…well…refresh yourself with. Next, walk a few feet down the street to ddp gallery for more art and refreshments.

At this point, you could make your way down to the Fayetteville Public Library and take in a little bit of yet another panel on FHS. This one’s hosted by the Sierra Club and focuses on the environmental impact of a new FHS. By now, you should be paneled out. It’s time for some music…or a movie. Your choice.

Considering there’s no rain, the First Thursday movie on the Square is Hitchcock’s North by Norhtwest. Bring a lawn chair. The pavement is no place to sit through an entire movie.

If a movie is not your thang, there’s music, folks. Plenty of it. Opal Fly is doing her normal Thursday night party at Smoke & Barrel Tavern. There’s a Radiohead Tribute at George’s and a Gypsy band at Scarpino’s.

In Midtown, Jeff Fox (aka Foxy) is at Foghorn’s, Kevin Bennoch is at Pesto Cafe and further North, it’s bluegrass night with East of Zion at Mellow Mushroom.

Oh yeah, and the fair is still going on at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

Good luck navigating everything tonight. Here’s a full list:
