Traffic flow plan for Bikes, Blues & BBQ

Local motorists approaching the intersection of Dickson Street and College Avenue will notice a change during this year’s Bikes Blues & BBQ rally.

According to a press release issued by city officials, orange traffic cones will be used in order to maximize traffic flow. For traffic heading south on College Avenue, the right-hand lane will only allow for a right turn onto Dickson Street and the inside (left) lane will only allow for continued southbound traffic.

Traffic heading east on Dickson Street will only be allowed to turn right at the intersection of College Avenue and traffic heading west on Dickson Street will only be allowed to turn left or right, and will be prohibited from going straight.

The Fayetteville Police Department is expecting a large attendance for the 2009 rally. “We are pleased to report past rallies have come to pass with very few problems,” said Police Chief Greg Tabor. “The Fayetteville Police Department has been meeting with the Bikes, Blues and BBQ Board, local merchants and citizens over the past months to make this event safe and enjoyable for all.”

Citizens are urged to be aware of the large numbers of cyclists and pedestrians visiting Fayetteville during this event.

With the exception of Saturday’s Parade of Power, city streets will not be closed for Bikes, Blues & BBQ until it becomes a public safety issue.
